Dr. Christie's Rubrics for Evaluating School Web Sites

What makes an excellent school web site? It must:

• have good content and accurate informationbe easy to navigatebe well-organized and grammatically correct
• be easy to see and use in both major browsers

These characteristics are true of any web site. But what are the special characteristics of an exemplary educational web site? Dr. Alice Christie developed the following rubrics to evaluate educational web sites. The rubric has two parts:

• Part One, which is common to all web sites
• Part Two, which is specific to education web sites at different levels:
  • K-12 Schools
  • K-12 Districts
  • K-12 Classroom Teachers
  • K-12 Educational Programs
  • University or Community College Programs
