What is a WebQuest?

A WebQuest is a well developed curricular unit or lesson that actively engages learners. When teachers create WebQuests, they build structured environments that orient learners to a specific curricular topic, give learners interesting and viable tasks, provide them with the Internet and print resources they need, provide guidance for completing the tasks, provide rubrics for evaluating learning, and organize a venue in which students share their learning with others. Dr. Christie's WebQuest Matrix

Over the last ten years, Dr. Christie has been requiring her graduate students (who are all practicing teachers) to create WebQuests in several of their courses. Her students have collectively created over 400 WebQuests in a wide variety of content areas for elementary, middle, and high school students.
