Agenda for Making Websites Marvelous

Monday – 2:40-5:00 PM

Tuesday – 8:30-10:00 AM

  • Create a play site using Google Sites or Weebly
  • Plan and execute navigation
  • Use a mindmapping tool (SimpleMind+, bubbl.us, Inspiration, etc) to create a map for your existing site OR
  • If you wish to “start from scratch” use a mindmapping tool to create a map for your new site:

  • Intro to Sites and Weebly
  • Work on Navigation

Tuesday – 12:45-2:15 PM

  • Embed a play Google Form | Embed Code
  • Google Form Examples
  • Embed a play Customized Google Map (Rebeca)
    • Go to Google Sites at sites.google.com and open the site you want to edit.
    • Click the Edit Page button.
    • Click the Insert menu and select Map. ...
    • On the left side of the window, click My Maps, choose the custom map you created, and click Select.

Your map should focus on (a) embedding the tools explored during the Tuesday morning session:

  • Embed a YouTube video in your play site
    • Navigate to this video
    • Click on the Share button
    • Click the Embed Tab
    • Copy the Embed Code
    • Paste the code in your website at an appropriate place.
  • Embed a variety of play Web 2.0 files
  • Embed a variety of play social media files
  • Embed a play Google Slide Presentation
    • Go to the page where you want to embed the file.
    • At the top right, click Edit page .
    • Place the cursor where you want the file to go.
    • Click Insert > Drive. In the Insert window, search for a file to insert, or paste a Google file's web address at the bottom. Click Select.
    • Choose a border, title, size, and other options, then click Save.
    • At the top right, click Save to save the page.
  • Homework: Review this Article on citing images sources and finding free images on the web.

  • Share individual Websites with whole group
  • Each participant provides feedback via a Google Form (created by the presenter)
