Model Lesson in Language Arts
  • Common Core Standards: Reading Standards for Literacy in History/Social Studies 6–12
    • Key Ideas and Details 2. Determine central ideas or themes of a text and analyze their development; summarize the key supporting details and ideas.
    • Integration of Knowledge and Ideas 7. Integrate and evaluate content presented in diverse formats and media, including visually and quantitatively, as well as in words.

    • To summarize the key supporting details and ideas that give evidence to or support your choice of this theme
  • Time frame:
    • Assessing prior knowledge: 5 - 10 minutes
    • Group Activitiy: 15 minutes
    • Sharing/Assessment: 5 - 10 minutes
    • Total: 25 - 35 minutes

  • Group Activity:
    • Each small group will explore a different media that showcases the Robert Frost poem.
    • They will discuss their impressions with one member of the group taking notes in Notes or Pages
    • Their goal is to come to a consensus of the theme of the poem
    • Create a Keynote presentation to share with other groups
